What is Grief REcovery

"Grief is the normal and natural reaction to loss of any kind."
- Grief Recovery Handbook

You are not alone. And you can move beyond the pain of loss whether it is from a current loss or one you experienced long ago. Take the first step and schedule an appointment with me.

Grief is the normal and natural reaction to loss of any kind. Many people assume that grief can only be caused by death or divorce, but the reality is there are over 40 different life events that can cause significant grief. Examples of other losses may include:

What is Grief?

  • Loss of Pet
  • Loss of Trust
  • Loss of Security
  • Loss of "Normalcy"
  • Moving
  • Loss of Job
  • Change in Financial Status
  • Change in Health
We try to wait for the pain to go away, but time won’t heal our pain. This leads us to inadvertently hurting ourselves more instead of healing what is broken. And this, this isn’t how we were made to be. We shouldn’t have to live in this emotional pain.
There is a solution.
The Grief Recovery Method is an Evidence Based Program

Research conducted by Kent State University has shown that The Grief Recovery Method approach to helping grievers deal with the pain of emotional loss in any relationship is “Evidence Based” and effective.

What Clients are saying in their own words

After experiencing the loss of my wife/best friend of 44+ years and my Dad all within the past year, a friend suggested I contact Kelli and ask about the Grief Recovery Institute. At first I was skeptical, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. I found their action program to be well thought-out, methodical, effective, and helpful. I learned a great deal about grieving, in general, and my own grief. And, I learned efficient ways to recover from it. I would recommend Kelli and the Grief Recovery Institute to anyone who finds themselves hurting over a major loss in their life, whether death of a loved one, divorce, job loss, financial loss, etc.

Kelli is fantastic! She is such a great listener, and I always felt so comfortable sharing! The grief/loss recovery method and process really helped me, and I would highly recommend both Kelli and this process for anyone who is having trouble getting past any type of loss or grief.

I lost my pets, husband, and home all in one year. There was too much heartache to pour onto my family and friends. I'm forever grateful for Kelli and the Grief Recovery Method. Kelli is such a great listener. I felt heard and my grief understood and validated.

I went through Kelli’s class to help children work through their grief. I have been working with children most of my life and I never knew how many ways grief can show its ugly face. I also never realized how many different things can cause a person to grieve. Kelli helped me work through some trauma that this class had brought up. She showed me that there is life past grief and all that comes with it. This class has made me realize that there is nothing with love, patience, and some hard work that we can’t overcome. Kelli is a great teacher who listens with a purpose and helps you feel comfortable talking about stuff that no one else has ever heard me say. Kelli and I have grown close over the last year, and no one in our mutual circles knows anything about me. I appreciate her ability to listen, and not judge, but also her ability to keep things to herself. She is easy to talk to and so willing to help you with your struggles to deal with life one step at a time.

Do you FEEL heartbroken? stuck? angry? Numb? Or unable to move foward

with your life?

Do you wonder why you are feeling this way? I asked those questions, only to find out I was experiencing grief even years after my mom died.

  • Are you afraid that if you start crying you won't be able to stop?
  • Do you feel good one day and then can't stop hurting the next?
  • Do you feel like everyone has moved on and has forgotten about you?
  • Does your heart hurt when you see other people happy?
  • Do you feel like this pain is your "New Normal"?
